Tidszone
System, hvorefter Jordkloden opdeles for hver 15 længdegrader i zoner, hvor klokken skifter en hel time. Disse zoner benævnes efter det engelske alfabet "A - Z" (dog minus "J") således, at øst for Greenwich (se UTC) ligger zonerne "A" - "M", og vest for Greenwich ligger zonerne "N" - "Y", - og det afsluttes med zone "Z" (zulu) på selve Greenwich-meridianen. Danmark (og det meste af Vesteuropa) ligger således normalt i tidszone "A", men skifter til zone "B" ved overgang til "sommertid". Vestgrønland ligger tilsvarende normalt i tidszone "P", men skifter ved "sommertid" til "O". Bemærk i øvrigt, at omkring "datolinien" ved 180. længdegrad er der to "halve" tidszoner. Klokken er her den samme i begge zoner, men data er forskellig.
